Project 3: Inked Octopus

I wanted to do an octopus painting because of my last project, but I didn't have this in mind at first. One day in art I had painted a piece of paper this blue green color, and then I accidentally splattered  black paint on it.  The splatter mark actually reminded me of an octopus tentacle, so I went with it. After I painted to head and added more tentacles, I splattered gold paint to add more color. This project was kind of easy, but it took a lot of guts. While splattering the paint, I never knew if the paint was going to fall the way I wanted it to. Luckily, it did. Over all I'm happy with this project.

Project 2; Skeleton Mermaid-Octopus

I chose to do this project not only because it went with my skeleton theme, but because I love mermaids! One might forget that is is a mermaid because of the octopus head, but it is. I think the octopus head makes it unique. I originally didn't plan on having the octopus head, but as I started drawing it just came to me. I painted the background first. It was originally just a tan color, but I decided to add texture with different colors to make it look like sand. The skeleton tail was the hardest thing to paint. I had to make really little and straight paint strokes. Once I decided not to paint a face on the octopus, I thought adding glitter would make it pop. I'm really happy with the way this project turned out. It is one of my favorites.

Art 3, Project 1: Skeleton Cut Out

This project was definitely took awhile. I chose a skeleton theme for my three projects because I wanted a challenge. Skeletons are not an easy thing to create. It took me several weeks to draw the skeleton and cut it out of the black paper. Once I got it all cut out, I placed it over a simple white paper that I painted with a light red and purple watercolor, and placed lace over top of the watercolor. After that, it still seemed too dull, so I decorated the black paper with swirls drawn with white colored pencil. Although this project didn't turn out exactly how I expected, I'm still happy with it. If I did it over again, I think I would take more time on it, and make sure it was perfect!

Project #11: Water Color

Whenever I think of water color paintings, I think of things I did in preschool. But this project was obviously more challenging. I chose a jellyfish because it's my favorite animal. I also think that jellyfish have cool colors and shapes that made the painting unique. It wasn't that hard to draw, but painting it was difficult. I had to get the shading just right and blend the colors properly. Overall, I liked the final outcome.

Project #10: Prints

This project was very difficult. It was hard to carve out the shape I wanted. Although it was hard, I liked it a lot. My shape turned out good, and I liked all the different colors we got to use to print. I would like to do something like this again, just maybe on a bigger scale.

Project #9: Stop Motion *no video

This project was really fun, but difficult. It was hard to get the pictures in the same lighting, and to make them flow together correctly. It was awesome to see my ideas "come to life".  I always watched stop motion videos, and I really like that I got the chance to make one. It was a really fun project. It's one of my favorites.

Project #8: Candy Drawing *No picture

This project was fun. It was hard not to eat the candy while drawing it, but I managed to resist. It was cool to draw my favorite candies in a 3D perspective. I really enjoyed this project. It was simple, but fun.

Making a Sketchbook

Making a sketchbook was interesting. It was cool to get to choose the paper I wanted in it, and choose the cover of it. I was difficult to get the paper to stay together with glue, but it worked out. Over all it was pretty easy to make, and its cool to create and draw stuff inside of something that I made.

Salvador Dali, the Famous Surrealist Painter

For my ceiling tile project, I chose to paint a surrealist picture. Salvador Dali was one of the most famous surrealist painters in the world. His art was unique, and very interesting. He takes objects, and paints them to do things that they don't do. I'm very excited to do a surrealist piece, although it will be difficult. It will be hard to create a picture of something that is unique, and unreal. I hope this project turns out well.

Photography as a Career

Photography is something I've always been interested in. I think its amazing how many stories one photo can tell. I've never really liked to have my picture taken, so I was always the one taking them. It would be amazing to have a career in photography. Its always been one of my dreams to become a fashion photographer for a big magazine because I love to take pictures of people, but I also like taking pictures of objects and landscapes. Those dreams might be a little far fetched, but I wouldn't mind having a home business and taking senior pictures or wedding pictures. It would also be amazing to travel the world and take pictures for journalists.
The average photographer makes between $14,000 and 54,748. The median salary that a fashion photographer can get is between $25,000 and 40,000. I honestly don't care how much I get paid. As long as I can be stable and love what I'm doing. If I went to the Art Institutes, I would probably have to go to school for 3 or 4 years. I would hopefully be working with other photographers and get opportunities to take photos for other businesses. Even though there might be ups and downs, I would still love to do this for a living.

Project #7: Aboriginal Dot Painting

This project was really cool. It took A LOT of time, but it was fun. I never knew exactly how it would turn out, so I was always excited about it. I really like the colors I chose for this project. I think they worked well. This is one of the projects I'm most proud of. If  I could change anything, I would have made the dots neater. Other than that, I feel good about this project, and I think it was very successful.

Project #6: 4-Steps to Abstraction Painting

This project took quite a bit of time. I had to make sure that each time I "zoomed in" that the decorations were still the same color as the were before. I chose a Christmas tree because, it was around Christmas time, and I love Christmas. If I were to re-do this, I wold have chosen smaller brushes to paint with. The most difficult thing about this was taking the time to paint it. Sometimes I would just get bored, but then I realized how awesome it would look when I was done. This project was fun, yet time consuming.

Project #5: Gesture Drawing

This piece was really difficult to do. It required a lot of detail and long work.I feel like I did a good job on this, although I could have been more careful with the conte' crayons. I used three pictures of girls that looked similar, so it would flow better. If I could re-do this project I probably would have spent more time on it, it doesn't look quite finished to me. I learned that to make a project like this, you have to have a lot of time and patience.
